that time that all my plans got ruined

This is my friend Audra.
We met at BG, and she's probably one of the coolest people I know. She recently came to visit me in Cincy, and we had a pretty kickass itinerary planned:
SATURDAY Aud would arrive in Cincy at like 11am, and we were going to visit a sunflower field. If you know me, you know that I love sunflowers with almost my whole heart, and Audra's a flower child herself, so it would be a great afternoon. I figured we'd drive the half hour to the sunflower field, and then have dinner at Shanghai Mama's downtown because the food there is to die for. Then we'd drive around until we wanted to come home and rest our bones.
SUNDAY
The plan for Sunday was to wake up early and get some coffee at Dunkin, Aud runs on dunkin but sadly there isn't one near where she lives, and then head to the art museum. After the art museum I was planning on showing her where I went to school, and then getting some ice cream before having a fire with some friends and just chilling.
MONDAY
Audra is off work on Mondays, and I didn't have to be in to work until 2, so our plan was to have breakfast at Waffle House or something before parting ways.
This was the original plan. It was going to be so perfect. Sadly though, I got called in to work at my second job on both Saturday and Monday, which meant no sunflower field and that Audra would have to wait to get here until like 6pm on Saturday night. My other friends were all working too, which meant no fire would be happening. So a lot of our plans went out the window, and suddenly the adventurous and super fun weekend I planned for Aud included a lot more just sitting at my house than I wanted. But, we persisted in our desire for friendship adventures, and the weekend ended up being really fun anyway. I think I gave Audra a good taste of Cincinnati- she's had skyline before but I introduced her to LaRosa's. We smashed that pizza like it was the last night of our lives. We went to a park and talked about our futures by the river. We explored in Clifton, went to a cute coffee shop called Lydia's on Ludlow (which has an absolutely magical dirty chai latte), where we listened to live jazz and browsed their healing crystal selection. She got to see the zoo, and luckily enough we actually go to see Fiona live in the flesh! And after some homemade tacos and guac, we went on a long drive and accidentally stumbled upon a church festival and used their ancient ATM to get enough cash to buy a funnel cake and a ride on the spinning strawberries while an elvis-impersonator type crooned to a crowd of midwest catholics. Moral of the story- adventures are best when the plan is left to rest. Grab your friends, grab a car, and fucking go. It will be fun and memorable, even without an itinerary, as long as you've got the right people.
