dreaming in french

Lately my dreams have been extremely vivid. I've spent the past two weeks or so waking up to a very memorable dream, or in a cold sweat from a dream, or confused as to whether or not the dream was real. I've always had pretty detailed and vivid dreams, and sometimes when I'm dreaming I'm aware that everything happening is a dream and I watch the events like a movie (this is called lucid dreaming, look it up it's pretty cool). So weird dreams aren't a new thing for me, but a few nights ago I had a dream completely in French.

I've had French dreams before, when you study a language for six years it tends to become a part of your life, but this dream was different. I didn't just have a dream where someone yelled french in the background and I understood it, I dreamt entire conversations in French, there wasn't a single lick of English anywhere in this dream. I woke up and could recall the conversations I had dreamed up, they felt so real, I had to assure myself it was just a dream. Nothing crazy happened in the dream either, it was basically a repeat of the day I had, but every single conversation I had partaken in was now en français.

Needless to say, this makes me even more excited for my upcoming trip to France. I've been worrying lately about whether or not my language skills are strong enough to allow me to live in France for a year, and I think that this dream in perfect French was a much needed confidence booster (thanks subconscious!).

Also, fun fact, today is exactly 3 months until I hop on a plane and move to France, so that makes this Tuesday a little more exciting.
